ABSENCE ASSIGNMENT

YOU CAN MAKE UP ANY EXCUSED ABSENCE BY DOING THE FOLLOWING ASSIGNMENT AND TURNING IT IN WITHIN TWO DAYS OF YOUR ABSENCE.

Find three contrasting examples of one piece we are singing in class.  (For instance, a high school singing it, a college, and a community choir. )  If you can't find that much contrast, just find three different versions.  Listen to each version enough times to find the differences.  Compare and contrast the three versions in an essay, using musical terms to describe the differences.  Put your name on it, and place it in the MAN CHOIR box.  Use the ADJUDICATION FORM  below as a reference.  For each piece you listen to, you need to include  at least three of the following references:  tone quality, intonation, rhythm, balance & blend, technique, interpretation, diction, or performance factors.  Each of these categories is described in the adjudication form.  Your absence assignment will be graded using this form as a rubric.  Makeup points (1-10 for each absence) will then be given for how well you covered the topics in the ABSENCE ASSIGNMENT RUBRIC.  The absence assignment should be about one and a half pages double spaced.
