Welcome to our SHS Choir page! Here is where you find the information for auditioning for our awesome choirs! The first thing to do is to fill out the Concert Choir Audition Form (above). Then, go to Flipgrid.com/walkerconcert. There you will find the place where you record your audition. (Flipgrid.com/f0e797a8 is the direct way to get to the audition topic.) Before you do that, download and print a copy of Silent Night (below). Then, rehearse both the soprano and alto lines until you are confident you can sing them well. There are tutorials for each part below the sheet music for Silent Night (below). Find someone in your family to rehearse with, if possible. Then, have that person sing the melody or other part besides the one you are singing with you on the Flipgrid video. For instance, your Dad could sing bass while you sing soprano, and then he could sing the melody while you sing alto. This should be done no later than Monday, April 27 at midnight. Remember to sing without the piano playing your part.
YOU CAN MAKE UP ANY EXCUSED ABSENCE BY DOING THE FOLLOWING ASSIGNMENT AND TURNING IT IN WITHIN TWO DAYS OF YOUR ABSENCE.
Find three contrasting examples of one piece we are singing in class. (For instance, a high school singing it, a college, and a community choir. ) If you can't find that much contrast, just find three different versions. Listen to each version enough times to find the differences. Compare and contrast the three versions in an essay, using musical terms to describe the differences. Put your name on it, and place it in the CONCERT CHOIR box. Use the ADJUDICATION FORM below as a reference. For each piece you listen to, you need to include at least three of the following references: tone quality, intonation, rhythm, balance & blend, technique, interpretation, diction, or performance factors. Each of these categories is described in the adjudication form. Your absence assignment will be graded using this form as a rubric. Makeup points (1-10 for each absence) will then be given for how well you covered the topics in the ABSENCE ASSIGNMENT RUBRIC. The absence assignment should be about one and a half pages double spaced.
